Hilton Head Vacation

So, we all packed up and headed down south for a family vacation to Hilton Head, SC. Mom, Dad and I drove the 9.5 hours and arrived on Sunday and Kara, Todd and Jack joined us on Monday. Monday morning, while sitting by the pool and waiting for the Gordon half to arrive we had a 15 minute downpour during which Mom, Dad and I huddled under a patio umbrella with about 5 other people until the rain let up. Other than that we had wonderful weather each day (though they called for storms all week) until the last 2 nights. We had a great time in the sun and Jack just LOVED the water and the beach. Other than Jack's few puffy eyes, of unknown origin, we had so much fun watching Jack learn and explore.

Keeping a hat on a 17 month old is quite a challenge...

Jack had so much fun digging in the sand with the conventional shovel, as well as the large chair umbrellas.


No fear of the water he ran right in... then out...then in ... He loved the freedom of miles of beach walking up to random strangers to say"Hi" and even loved the water splashing on him!

One of his favorite games is jumping the waves as he asks for "mah" (translation: more).





All this playing makes a boy thirsty...

Grandpa brought a great airplane to play with but it's just as fun to crawl through his legs...

My quest for the perfect beach picture of Jack:




This picture is so similar to one of Todd as a baby with Esther's sunglasses on! I wish I had a copy to post along with this one.


Jack got lots of practice on his animal sounds this week. Just some background... My father does not have a name in Jack's vocabulary, he is simply known by the sound of a "quack." Yes, not that we call him a quack (not to his face at least), but he has been making a Donald Duck "quack" sound to Jack since day one and now when Jack sees his picture or he walks into a room and Jack sees him he greets him with a quack back. We have now progressed to elephant noises... Kara and Todd are so proud, especially when he does this in restaurants! (Sorry for the blurry quality)



Kara and Todd are also grateful to my father for teaching a 17 month old, who is only beginning to learn the meaning of "gentle", to grab people's noses...

Thanks so much Mom and Dad!!! It was a great trip and so nice to spend time together. Unfortunately, our family picture turned out blurry, but at least we have these :)
